Amazing and unique pizza.  Very thin crust sets this apart from a ton of great pizzerias in the 'hood.  Fresh out of the oven, Gruppo serves an excellent pizza.  While I do not normally like toppings on my pizza, their Shroomtown pizza is one of the best pizzas with toppings I have ever had (I still do get plain most of the time).  Though you can get a pie with fresh mozzarella, I would go for the simplest pie.  A little tight quarters though there's often not a wait.  You can get a pitcher of beer.  Casual vibe.  If you haven't been here, you are really in for a treat.  Very good prices for the quality of the food.  One time I got a sandwich here (for lunch) and that was excellent too.  Gruppo is casual and informal but they really do make perfect pizzas.  It's related restaurants Posto, Vezzo and Spunto are excellent as well... for some reason, their relationships are not advertised to the extent I would have expected.  As a bonus, they deliver!

I order takeout from Gruppo about once a week. It’s delicious...thin crust, fresh ingredients, great taste. Even though it may be a bit pricier than youre average pie, its well worth it if you love gourmet pizza!

The best large pepperoni pizza in the world.  They make it with thin crust and thinly sliced large pepperonis!!! I mean, the diameter of these pepperonis is about 2 inches!

This  place has excellent thin crust pizza. The crust is so thin, I alone could seriously eat a whole large pie in one sitting (and I'm usually good with two slices) That being said, order a fair amount, you'll each eat a minimum of 4 slices. The topping choices are great as well, and they have some awesome combinations. Bring your vegetarian friends for sure too. I am still trying to get down there before 7pm to snag their pitcher and a pie deal for 18 bucks! Has anyone had a chance to try that?

I first tried Gruppo a few years ago when I first moved to the city, after being told it was an experience that shouldn't be missed. I wasn't disappointed, and it's remained my favourite pizza place in Manhattan. A mix between New York and Italian style pizza, it's super thin - crispy where it should be, and not where it shouldn't, with a large selection of fresh toppings- in my opinion, the tomato, the cheese, everything is pretty much perfect (their salads are large and really delicious too, and they have kick ass lunch specials too)

So thin... so crusty... so tasty... I want to give this place 5 stars, but I would have to try another pizza with sauce first. We had the Formaggio Bianco (ricotta, mozzarella, basil & spinach) so I was extra impressed with how the crust was so crunchy compared to the spinach pizza I had at Lombardi's which was a little soft & soggy. I do wish there had been more spinach though. The waiter was so polite and nice, but I could have done with more water refills.  Definitely a delicious pizza, but I'm not enough of a thin-crust purist to say it's my new favorite.

AMAZING! if you like thin, you'll like Gruppo! cracker thin but never gets soggy (unlike like Lil Frankies). Extremely fresh ingredients, we tried classic margharita, pineapple, and all meat, everything was spot on. If you have room for apps, the caesar is perfectly dressed with cracker thin croutons too. AND one of the best happy hour deals ever: Large Classic Pizza + pitcher of beer for $18. (5-7pm every day). Their other sister restaurants Vezzo and Posto does not offer this. Great service, great food, great chill atmosphere with hip music. house wines are delicious as well!

I usually visit posto but if in the east village I'll wlak over to pizza gruppo. I prefer posto but gruppo is pretty much the same.  This is a warm relaxing joint that has wine or beer if you want to have a little beverage.  The salads are yummy but the thin crust pizza rocks. This is a good staple to Alpahabet City residents.

Tiny Alphabet City pizzeria with sublimely thin crust pizza, that tastes even better if you get it on Tuesday night-- when paired with a pitcher of beer it costs $18.  The Mediterranean salad was also very tasty, with a nice balance of bitter radicchio, toasted pine nuts, fresh mozzarella, grape tomatoes and olives mixed with a light vinaigrette.  Gruppo also has several wines by the glass at affordable prices.  While dessert could easily have been an afterthought at a place like Gruppo, the bread pudding was one of the moistest I've had and the chocolate chip cookie arrived warm to the touch.  Definitely worth a stop!

living here for only six-months, i am by no means calling myself a new yorker yet.  so who am i to judge on what "authentic" NY pizza is?  but i have, however, tried lombardi's, grimaldi's, and even di fara --supposedly new york pizza institutions-- and think gruppo's outdoes them all (well, di fara is a toss up, but not worth it to travel all the way to the boonies of brooklyn.  plus they have service issues.. but that's another review). We ordered both the big pineapple and the classica.  while i liked the big pineapple, i LOVED the classica.  simple and fresh, and the thin crust was just right (it IS crispy and crunchy and a little cracker-like, but i think that's what makes it what it is). This is a really low-key, pizza and beer type of place.  the ambience is a little hole-in-the-wallish, but the food has the class of a five-star restaurant.

omg, this place is like a little piece of heaven.  Do you like pizza?  Skip all the SOHO tourist pizza spots.  This is the real deal. First I like it cause it's cozy.  Perfect date spot.  Also they have delicious wine, and serve it in an unconventional 8oz glass, which I like.  Makes it special somehow. And then I get to the pizza.  The Margarita is great, but there are lots of other ones to choose from.  And this is thin crust pizza, so it's not heavy on cheese.  They use fresh mozzarella, and what can I say, they make a superb pie.  The salads are also excellent too.  It's a tad pricey for pizza, but worth every penny.  Service is great and friendly, and you know it's AveB, so its just a cool neighborhood for dinner. yum! (also check out Posto on 2nd Ave + 18th street, a sister location...)

You know what I love?  Rationalizing things.  Things like having a 2nd dinner.  And you know what's really helpful for rationalizing having a second dinner?  A two-hour whiskey tasting.   Even though I'd gorged myself on a bacon Royale w/ Cheese earlier that night, the whiskey created this very rational thought in my head:  it's been at least 4 hrs since you had that burger, and you are a little drunk!  You NEED to eat something--something like delicious pizza.   Well!  Who am I to argue with reason? It was late and Gruppo was close to closing, but they were no match for peter d's magical charms.  They agreed to throw a couple of pies in the oven for us, and were even obliging when we wanted to go halfsies on both.  And can I just say, thank god for the wisdom of whiskey! These pizzas were excellent, and that is not a term I throw around loosely (for pizza). The Meat Lovers' was covered in all kinds of delicious meaty-ness, and even though J had managed to convince the boys to add anchovies to the Shroomtown, the smell of truffle oil was too much for me to resist.  I stealthily pulled the slimy, salty piece of fish off the top of my slice, and reveled in shroomy heaven.  Easily the best mushroom slice I've ever had.   I'd say this has to be one of the top three pizzas I've had in New York--definitely approaching Franny's in terms of general excellence, and significantly cheaper than Franny's, too.  It just goes to show you, it is always a good idea to listen to your whiskey.

I do not purport to be a Pizza Expert of any kind. I just know that I want to put Gruppo's pizza in my mouth more than I want to put other things in my mouth.  On an unrelated note, the Meatzza was my favorite, followed by the Greek and then the Big Pineapple. I cannot vouch for the Shroomfest + anchovies due to a conflict of interests. The prices were very reasonable relative to the level of mouthgasm I experienced, and the service was above and beyond what I'd normally expect from a pizza joint. Thanks to Peter D. for dragging us through the slush to this crispy slice of heaven, and thanks to Gruppo's for staying open a little later so we could feed the bourbon in our bellies.

BEST THIN CRUST PIZZA IN NYC! All I hear about is how good the Shroomtown pizza is here. You know what? I don't care. I need my meat. I've been meaning to come here for at least a year, based on many stellar reviews by reliable friends. I finally made it here and was not disappointed. The crust is phenomenal. It can even withstand a 30min meal without getting soggy. It took me quite a few slices to get full, but I eventually did. I could finish the entire large pie on a good day. La Rustique in JC prob wins out on flavor and freshness, but their crust is even thinner and pies even more expensive. Yes, it's possible. Yes, it's true. Generous on toppings? Yes. Generous on price? No. My iPhone pics came out crappy cuz it was darker than usual inside. -Rotella ($8) [prosciutto di parma rolls with arugula, roasted pepper, & smoked mozzarella] - what a great lazy man's food, reminded me of an Italian sushi roll (also 6pcs), generously drizzled with some type of green cream sauce, good job. -Meat Lover's Large Pie ($24 + truffle oil (+$3) [marinara sauce & cheese, pepperoni, andouille sausage, sweet italian sausage] - it's all about the crust here, the toppings were pretty generic, prefer the difara/grimaldi's toppings more actually Total came out to $23/pp after everything

Loved it! I'm a huge fan of thin crust pizzas, and Gruppo's is about as thin as you can get. If you really want to taste the sauce and cheese and toppings, and you like a crisp crust that cracks underneath, then you'll love this place. The salads are large and good for sharing, and there are some very good deals on the wine list too. The place is cozy and wooden, and there's a really good jukebox although it did steal my dollar one time, but the waiter apologized and gave me a refund. The service is always friendly and relaxed. No question, this is my favorite place for pizza in the neighborhood.

Best thin crust pizza in manhattan. I live nearby and am amazed by the high quality of Gruppo Pizza... I order take away all the time and turned into a quality pizza fascist because of it... now most pizza tastes like just fast food. Restaurant is a bit tight/narrow and cannot accommodate groups well, but the pizza IS to die for. (Cannot comment on the meat pizzas, as I am a vegetarian).

I’m now a regular I live a few blocks away from Gruppo and either stop by or order from them about once a week. Their toppings are a little pricey (probably because many are imported and the US dollar is becoming worthless), but their pizzas are more or less consistently good. Delivery times are typically about 25 minutes although once it took them an hour. Inside the restaurant, aside from being a little cramped, everything is just about what you'd expect from a classic pizza parlor (flat soda included) except the pizzas are a step above.

Couldn’t Live Without It I have been dining in and ordering out from here for 4 1/2 years and am always happy with the pies. The staff is friendly and attentive. Sure, on a few occasions the crust has been undercooked or overcooked, but the cheese and toppings are always fresh and the sauce is one of the best around. A large pie easily accomodates two people and for the quality of the food it's definitely a fair price. I also recommend their garlic bread and house salad, which has an amazing Italian dressing.

Great Pizza—GREAT PRICE! I've been going to Gruppo for over a year now, and I can honestly say that for the quality of pizza, the price is MORE than reasonable. The service is always friendly without being overbearing, the pizza is amazing (but only if you like thin crust) and the only complaint I can think of is that the restaurant is too small... your typical hole-in-the-wall New York joint. If you appreciate excellent, thin crust pizza for the lowest price you'll find in the city, then check this place out!

God, this pizza is so good. I've gotten delivery many times, but, like everything else, it's SO MUCH BETTER at the restaurant, right out of the oven.  The Big Pineapple, the Chixpotle, the Meat Lover's, the Fafandone...all winners. The non-pizza items are also high quality; I particularly like the spinach salad. The restaurant is small and cozy. It's all dark wood and exposed brick, dim lights and a comfortable feel.  The two-person tables are tiny; barely enough room for you, your date and your pizza, but it's intimate. The service is stellar. You know what? I'll say it. This is my favorite spot for pizza in NYC. The thin crust is perfect, the toppings fresh and delicious, and since there isn't an overabundance of hype, I don't have to wait for my pie. Merry Christmas.

Ever since I had their Hawaiian pie I have been dreaming about it. It is delicious. I don't usually like fruit on my pizza or thin crust from anywhere except Pepi's in CT but Gruppo is the exception to that. The service was pretty slow but the pizza was so damn good I didn't notice.

I've only lived in New York for a couple of weeks, and this is my second pizza experience in this great city. After a few hours of pretending to be paparazzi -- wearing all black and mobbing through the city with my coworkers carrying fancy cameras -- and taking pictures of the uber-cool locals (who are more than happy to pose for a stranger!), we were famished. The establishment is a bit boring, somewhat rustic, but the owner had a reassuring confidence that the food lived up to. This pizza is really, really good. The crust is obviously hand made and as thin as thin can be. I mean, with the fresh mozzarella slices and sparing use of sauce, I felt like I was in Italy for awhile. We had a large Classica (fresh tomatoes and basil), a large white four cheese pizza with spinach, as well as a personal Big Pineapple. We dusted it all quick, and were soon back on the street. If I'm back in this neighborhood and craving some real pizza, I'll duck into Pizza Gruppo again.

When I visited NY, I stayed in an apt about a block away from this place. The first night I had passed it in a cab and decided to go there for dinner. It's a small place, was dimly lit when I visited and not too crowded. I ordered 2 pies, some garlic bread and whatever the bartender recommended for wine (which he corked for me and served me a glass as I was waiting for my dinner to get cooked). The bartender was really nice and the food was great. Nothing like a NY style pie on your first night of vacation. PS: Love the neighborhood too!

Gruppo is trying to make me broke! I LOVE the big hawaiin pie. still tastes delicious as all hell. but for a personal pan it's $12! yeah the small pie for one person! prices have gone up. ur whackkkk gruppo. ABSOLUTELY ABSOLUTELY mothereffin delicious! Came here last sunday night as a group of 5. The ONLY drawback is it's pretty cramped in there. Other than that, it was a great time. Service is good, wine and beer was good (two thumbs up for Stella on draft), pizza of course was topnotch, and we took over the jukebox playing everything from The Doors to Sting to Led Zepellin to The Beatles. Fantastic time. The next night, i had to babysit my little cousins and requested that they order Gruppo so i had it not only the second night but heated up 2 slices the next day for lunch at work. STILL tasty!!! Best thin crust pizza in my life. Also, the Caesar salad there is the best caesar salad i have everrrrr had. Side note: growing up as a kid in NJ, i never cared for pizza. now having NY pizza, i feel blessed.

Came here with a friend that lives in the area and this place has some really tasty pizza.   Coming from Chicago I have gotten away from the deep crusted pizzas because of health and consumption reasons.  When you go out for deep dish you are limited to two slices and when you are done you stuffed to the brim, which is bad for the beer drinking afterwards. Gruppo on the other hand makes an extremely thin crust pizza with fresh ingredients.  We ordered a pizza with spinach, spicy Italian sausage, and fresh mozzarella and it was great.   Lastly, the guy running the place and maybe the owner is an internationally ranked competitive eater just some trivial knowledge for your ass.

The moment I leave Pizza Gruppo, I want to return immediately for another food orgie...no matter how full I am. I've feasted on Pizza Gruppo's  delicacies on three occasions and have never been disappointed. Those of you who know me know that homemade pizza is one of my personal specialties, making me slightly picky. I either like a simple cheese slice, strengthened by a well-seasoned but simple sauce ladled atop a firm, but not overcooked, crust. That, or I like a pizza topped with an eclectically flavorful blend of interesting ingredients. PIzza Gruppo dazzled me on the latter. First, know that Gruppo is known for its thin, crunchy crust-so don't come by if you are in the mood for Sicilian. Armed with this knowledge, here are a few suggestions. The Schroomtown warmed my taste bud with its mix of wild mushrooms and drizzle of truffle oil. And, in keeping with my "vegetarian except for bacon" status I have also sampled the Big Pineapple, a mouth watering, but not overwhelming, blend of cheese, sauce, smoked bacon, and pineapple. I was worried that this combo would remind me of late night pizza deliveries I indulged in during college, but while it did elicit a hint of nostalgia, Pizza Gruppo's version was head and shoulders about "Wild Pizza's." Other pluses: yummy, salads; good, cheap wine; tasty desserts; a well-stocked jukebox; and cute waiters.

Gruppo has to be a favorite comfort spot of ours. Small place but you never feel cramped and the staff has always been on point even at their busiest. The pizza: Large with roasted garlic and caramelized onions The drink: Sierra Nevada and a Merlot for Liz (or 2 Cokes) The salad: A Caesar Salad So amazing. We have gone to a couple of places and had some sit-down pizzas but never could kill off a large. At Gruppo the large is a gentlemen(ladies)s size and we never have any left to take with us.

Mmmm...pizza. Have I ever mentioned that I love pizza? Gruppo's takes second place in my small universe for "Best Thin Crust Pizza Ever!" award (the first being Michaelangelo's in Astoria). When I worked downtown it was all I could do to not eat at this place every single day. Not only because the pizza is delicious, but because the lunch specials are so darn affordable. You can get two slices and a soda or a slice and a salad for under 5 bucks. The restaraunt itself is kind of small, the bigger tables are in the front and cozy two person booths on the side. You can also sit at the bar, which I kind of like doing sometimes. A great place to kick back and relax and get away from the office for a bit.

After 15 years of pizza in the city I think this is my favorite but maybe because I like a really thin crust or maybe because they have all my favorite ingredients: artichokes, jalapeno and bacon. Wierd maybe but you should try it. Anyway, the place has a nice easy vibe and it tastes just amazing. Second up my list might be Grimaldi's but that's more of an ordeal and an experience - something very different than this which is just the best pizza in the EV.

The atmosphere is so relaxed in Pizza Gruppo, two kids (literally) jumping on the tables, while not exactly celebrated by the staff, were completely ignored.  We sat at a small, beat-up wood table and two creaking chairs, so worn in, it was clear this was not the first time overexcited people dined at Gruppo.  The do-it-yourself menu offers 40+ toppings (like andouille sausage, sun dried tomatoes, grilled asparagus ...) inspiring us to put together a much too creative pizza.  If you'd rather have some guidance, there are specialty pizza choices with names like Fiery Cajun, Shroomtown, El Greco and The Big Pineapple.  I say this thin crust pizza really is worth jumping up and down for.

If you're not into thin crust pizza, Gruppo is not for you.  The crust is extra thin and crispy.  They have a wide variety of gourmet toppings if you order a whole pie.  Ordered the meat lovers for delivery; it was great!   If you get a chance, go in for their lunch special, $4 for 2 slices and a drink.  The decor is really cool..it looks like a dark diner inside.  The waiter was friendly and service was prompt.  Whole pies can get pretty pricey if you order lots of toppings, but hey you pay for quality.

Continuing with my yelp on all things Ave B, I come to one of my favorites on the block, Gruppo. I think this may be my favorite pizza in New York. That title was held previously by Rocket Joe's...Sike! Seriously it was held by Lombardi's. I know Lombardi's is like the oldest pizzeria in NYC, and with that said, everyone thinks it's the best. Rightfully so, they do make a mean pizza. Gruppo however is perfect to me in every way a pizza should be. Thin crust, which if you're not into then you my be disappointed. The ingredients are only the best and if you don't like their signature pies you can custom make your own. The Meat Lover's with a cold Stella is incredible. So if you want a pizza that rivals Lombardi or any other joint, for a fraction of the cost, try Gruppo.

Thinnest crust pizza I've ever seen, but so good!  My vote is for "shroomtown" with lots of mushrooms and cheese.  Gruppo is a small place, but we got a table quickly and the service was pretty attentive.  Garlic vinagrette dressing makes the $5 garden salad a total steal and perfect for sharing.  Everything on the menu is reasonable -- can't complain about a very tasty $12 large cheese pizza.

My co-worker and I absolutely love Gruppo's pizza.  We go during lunch hours (usually the first customers of the day) sit and have the special 2 slices for $4 or a slice and salad for $5.  I have only tried the plain slice & mushroom/spinach slice.  The plain slice is delish.  I eat a lot of pizza all over Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, back home upstate, and even Chicago and I would say it falls in my top 5 favorite.  They have a unique way of making the super thin crust and flavorful sauce.  If logical I could eat a whole large pie myself.  The jazz feel the decor gives makes you feel relaxed and they are always playing good tunes on the jukebox which makes it easy to keep eating. Look forward to trying other eats off their menu.  Since it is close to work it will continue to be a lunch regular. Update:  Had a chance to hit them up for dinner on a recent Saturday night and tried the regular classic pie (nice chucky tomato sauce) & the hawaiian pie.  For dessert a slice of freshly made pumpkin pie (they used fresh pumpkin) w/ a scoop of ice cream.  All was very delicious. It was nice to be inside when the seats were full.  Eh, the server wasn't too attentive but the environment is relaxing & she was real nice (its pizza so you really don't need to much attention in my mind)) so it didn't bother me.

Seriously, Gruppo is one of my favorite pizzas in all of New York City. It's not your traditional NY slice, but I think it is better! The pizzas here have a very thin crust and their topping selection is wonderful. Even their standard pizza specials are great. If you like mushrooms, I highly recommend the "Shroomtown"; it comes with three types of mushrooms and is drizzled with truffle oil - it's spectacular. I used to get pizza delivered from them all the time when I lived in the neighborhood, and the prices are really reasonable - around $8-9 for a personal pie that will fill you up even though it's thin. Go to Gruppo. You'll love it!

My favorite go-to place for pizza delivery... which is saying alot since there are plenty of good pizza joints in NYC, esp around my neighborhood. But Gruppo is definitely one of my favorite spots to order from. I've never been to the actual restaurant and after reading a few of the Yelp reviews here, I may just stick to getting delivery since it sounds like the service ain't all that. I don't want to ruin a good thing here! Anyways, Gruppo makes the most perfect thin crust pizzas with awesome, fresh toppings. You can create your own custom pies (personal small one or a large pie) but I recommend their special house pies... so yummy... esp the "fafandone" (with sweet italian sausage & sun-dried tomatoes) or the "big pineapple" (fresh pineapples, smoked bacon, & basil)... my mouth is watering thinking of my last order (only several hours ago!).

Somebody else on here gave it a one star and i don't really know why. i would like to think i know a good pizza when i have one and i'm shocked to hear that somebody would give such a poor rating. makes me really curious to hear about what their favorite pizza spot would be. Who really cares about the service btw...it's a small neighborhood spot...slow service is part of the charm. all about the pizza at this place.

I recently returned to Gruppo on a busy Saturday night at dare I say, prime time! (gasp) It's true kids, and the wait was under 5 mins. It was crowded, and I was thinking to myself that's a good sign, right? We got great service, a funny waiter, and a Gruppo pizza the way I remember a Gruppo pizza! the crust wasn't burnt, it was hot, but not unpleasant, and the toppings were as yummy as ever. i even recall pointing to my mouth and exclaiming "there's a party goin' on...right here." yeah, it was giggleworthy.

Food: Awesome crispy thin crust. The pepperoni they use is about double the size of normal ones. We enjoy the prosciutto with pineapple, the meat lover's (though it's not piled up much w/ toppings), and have yet to try the shroomtown with white truffle oil. Restaurant/Service: We've never eaten in the restaurant. We either order take out or delivery b/c it's so close to home, but it's a small, dimly lit, cozy place. It's a bit cramped, but very EV. Overall: 3/5 If not for the high price, I'd give this place a 4/5. It's definitely expensive for pizza. About $20 for a 16" specialty pie that isn't very heavy, but it's a nice treat once in a while if you're craving a thin crust and some of their unique toppings.

One of the best pizza places in Manhattan, Gruppo offers tasty brick oven pizza with lots of fresh toppings. My favorite add ons are truffle oil, eggplant and cucumber. The pizza here is a thin neopolitan style pizza, so you don't have to load the pizza up with a lot of toppings. They also offer some of the best salads you can get at a pizza place. The leaves are actually fresh and green instead of having brown edges, unlike most places. The garlic bread is served perfectly and with plenty to go around so if you order it make sure you have someone to share it with.

Really great pizza. thin crust, but not traditional NY style. I don't really know what style it is, but it tastes really good. The salad is good too, as is the house red wine. It's a mellow little place--warm and inviting and the delivery guys wear helmets and high-viz vests, which says a lot about a place.

Well, considering I've lived in the 2 pizza capital s of the world (Chicago and NYC), I'd like to think I know pizza! Gruppo has some of the best thin crust I've ever had. I always find it hard to find a place that has a good cheese/sauce combination, but I think they've found it! And their house salad is fantastic. I don't usually get the pizza with anything on it, but when I do, their sweet onions are great with the sauce! Honestly, I think I eat their salad more than their pizza :-x And don't get me started on the eye candy. I promise, you won't be disappointed!

Best gourmet pizza!
Posted by looneybin93 on 01/03/2007
We've loved the thin-crust gourmet pizza from the first time we've been there! Limited seating makes it best to go during off-hours, but it's a great place to share a pie (with their fresh ingredients and toppings) and a beer with a friend or date!

Best Pizza in all of Manhattan
Posted by bargrrl on 07/16/2006
I am reluctant to write because I would not want my jem of a pizza place to become overcrowded. However, it is jus too good to not praise it. By far, the best pizza in Manhattan. The crust is thin, the ingredients are fresh and the staff is friendly. For all you lazy folks that don't want to come to Alphabet City, I say, "good - stay out. less wait time for me!" Pros: Pizza & Nice Friendly Neighborhood Joint

Yummy Thin Crust!
Posted by meyers713 on 07/03/2003
Stumbled upon this gem of a pizza place and I will be going back frequently. The thin crust pizza is amazing -- you can choose any toping/crate your own. The service was great as well. Not a large place, but it's cute and cozy. Not a typical pizza joint, but good for a low key and fairly cheap nice sit down dinner.

We went here 2 nights in a row and love it. The pizza is fabulous - try the shroomtown (3 kinds of mushrooms & drizzled with truffle oil) The caesar salad and garlic bread are also top notch. Only downfall is the room, or lack thereof - the seating is fairly cramped and the space small - but given the food, it's worth it.

Coming from someone that chooses to live by good pizza, In my opinion, Gruppo has the best thin crust pizza in the city. It is the perfect combination of fresh "real" mozzerella, perfectly spiced sauce and a crust so good you eat it all, even if it is off somone elses plate you don't know. You will get to know the waitstaff and delivery people by first name. They bring over your favorite beverage before you sit down and while dining you listen to a killer jukebox. Only downfall is that it is a little hot in the summer but well worth the sacrifice.

I wasn't even a fan of thin crust pizza until a friend recommended Pizza Gruppos. All skepticism vanished as soon as I took my first bite. I've never had a pizza quite like it. All toppings are so fresh you'd think they had their own vegetable garden and the crust is so perfect, that one actually thinks of how it was made. It's a weekly addiction.

Great Pizza - Outrageously Overpriced
Posted by East Village David on 03/30/2007
I'm writing my first review on MenuPages after using it for years. The pizza here is delicious. However, I leave the place angry every time, because I have always left there hungry. If you are going for a unique taste, then you'll more than enjoy it. But if you're going for a solid pizza at a reasonable price, this is not worth it.

I havent been to this place in a few years and forgot how amazing the food is: the salads are huge and so amazing. rarely do i get to the end of a salad and wish there were more. then there's the pizza: the small is tiny so don't even bother. get a large. it is a bit expensive but its so good, it doesnt matter. the meat lovers is unbelievable. like someone else on here said, i'm not a big fan of thin crust, but this pizza is tops in my book. the space is small. it would be nice if they moved somewhere bigger, but until then i'll go back and i'll get take out. its the best pizza around.

I love the pizza but every time I call there is some sort of problem. One day they will deliver to me, the next they "dont come down that far" One day they take credit cards, the next they don't. It's inconvenient when you have hungry kids to feed and you think this will be perfect and then they throw you a curve ball. That being said, the pizza is terrific.

The Pizza was fantastic--I don't normally enjoy cracker crust pizza, but this was wonderful. The salad was fabulous and huge! The service was great--they were really nice. The only downside is that it is really small inside and we had to wait for a table. Alas, it is NYC. Highly recommend it.

We order form Pizza Gruppo every week at least once. The pizza is really tasty and everything arrives fresh and hot. The people that work there are all friendly, cheerful and accomodating. No attitude. In these days of obnoxious service people I find it a breath of fresh air. Highly recommended!

What's so hard about delivering slices
Posted by steve on 10/27/2004
Ordered numerous items and wanted to add a slice to the order. However the nice young man on the phone informed me it is against store policy to deliver a slice. I can understand this policy if you called to order one slice of pizza all by its lonesome, however if I'm tacking it on to a large order, what's the problem? Poor store policy! A message to the owner customer service is key to staying in business.
